The Medical Biotechnology program provides advanced knowledge in molecular biology, genetics, immunopathology, and clinical diagnostics with a strong focus on disease mechanisms and therapeutic strategies. The curriculum includes courses on organ pathologies, stem cells, molecular oncology, and genomics. Students also engage in laboratory diagnostics, pharmacology, and neurobiological disorders. Practical experience is integrated through internships and research activities. In the final semester, students complete a thesis based on original research, preparing them for careers in biomedical research or the biopharmaceutical industry.
To be admitted to the Medical Biotechnology program, applicants must hold a three-year degree or equivalent foreign qualification in biotechnology, biological sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, or medicine. Degrees from both current and previous Italian systems are accepted if recognized as suitable. Admission is conditional upon passing an assessment test. A B2 level of English proficiency, according to the CEFR, is also required and must be demonstrated through accepted criteria. Candidates who have not yet graduated may take the test, but must complete their degree by the end of the calendar year to finalize enrollment. EU students typically pay around €1,200/year based on family income. Non-EU students usually pay a fixed fee of about €1,400/year. Check with the university for your exact fee.

A minimum of 70 ECTS or 60 semester hours in biological, biomedical, biochemical, or biophysical subjects is necessary, along with at least 18 weeks of practical laboratory experience, such as during a bachelor's thesis. Proof of English language proficiency is required, with accepted tests including TOEFL iBT (minimum 79), IELTS Academic (minimum 6.0), Cambridge (minimum B or C), or UniCert (Stufe II). Medium of instruction certificates and expired test results are not accepted.
