EU/EEA citizens do not need a visa or residence permit for study — they can simply enroll and move to Iceland. Non-EEA students need a residence permit from the Directorate of Immigration, applied for after receiving an acceptance letter.
Iceland is one of the more expensive study destinations in Europe. Accommodation in Reykjavik costs approximately ISK 80,000–150,000/month, and general living expenses are high. However, tuition at the University of Iceland is relatively affordable, and part-time work opportunities are plentiful.
