No — Estonia has one of the highest rates of English-taught programs per capita in Europe. The University of Tartu and TalTech offer dozens of fully English-medium programs at both bachelor's and master's level. Estonian language courses are widely available as electives.

Q: Is Estonia part of the Schengen area?

Yes — Estonia is a Schengen country and EU member state. Non-EU students need a long-stay visa (Type D) before arrival and then convert it to a temporary residence permit in Estonia.

Estonia uses the SAIS (Study in Estonia Application System) as a central portal for many programs, though the University of Tartu and Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) also run their own systems.
