Banking and International Finance University of Jyväskylä

This master's program offers a strong interdisciplinary and quantitative foundation in economics, banking, and international finance. It prepares students to work as financial experts in banks, financial institutions, and global markets, emphasizing analytical and policy-relevant decision-making. Core subjects include principles of banking, financial statement analysis, asset pricing, international finance, and financial econometrics, with a strong focus on research through a master’s thesis. Elective courses cover areas such as derivatives, behavioral finance, hedge funds, sustainability impacts in business, financial mathematics, and business analytics. The program also includes modules in academic writing, communication, and optional studies in econometrics, economics, and well-being, allowing students to customize their learning paths. Communication and language courses, including Finnish, are offered to support international students.
To be eligible for this master's program, applicants must hold a recognized higher education degree that qualifies for master’s-level studies in the country of issue. Degrees should ideally be in fields such as finance, economics, accounting, mathematics, statistics, or business administration. A degree that includes substantial coursework in finance and economics is generally considered suitable. Applicants who already hold a closely similar master’s degree in financial economics cannot be admitted. The awarding institution must be officially recognized within its national education system or by international bodies like UNESCO. Conditional admission is possible for students who have not yet graduated but will complete their degree before the specified deadline.

English proficiency must be proven through one of several approved methods. Accepted evidence includes previous education completed in English in certain countries (EU/EEA, UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and others) or a higher education degree taught in English. Alternatively, language proficiency can be demonstrated via standardized tests, including IELTS Academic (minimum 6.5), TOEFL iBT (minimum 92), PTE Academic (minimum 62), Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency, or the Finnish National Certificate of Language Proficiency (YKI) with advanced-level scores of 5 or higher in all components. Additionally, GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) scores of at least 515 (Focus edition) or 550 (previous format), and GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) scores with at least 150 in Quantitative Reasoning are also accepted.

Finance and Accounting ELTE – Eötvös Loránd University

This bachelor's program familiarizes students with economic processes at both the macro and micro level and with the European monetary and business environment, with a particular focus on finance, accounting, and controlling. It is recommended for students who want to specialize in these fields while building a broad, up-to-date understanding of business economics, and is well suited to those who enjoy working with numbers and have strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills. The underlying program holds accreditation from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and was the first Hungarian bachelor's program to offer students a considerable number of exemptions from ACCA's professional examinations. It is delivered over three and a half years, entirely in English.

The first year covers management, marketing, accounting, mathematics, an introduction to the individual within community and society, and economics, before continuing into corporate finance, further accounting and management coursework, further mathematics, business law, and further economics.

The second year covers a further corporate finance course, analysis and controlling, international finance and economics, business problem-solving with Excel, argumentation, further business law, and business statistics, before continuing into management accounting, national and international taxation, economic policy, persuasion, further statistics, industrial organization, preparation for project work, and an elective in informatics.

The third year covers investment and financing alongside a first substantial project-work module, electives in law and the social sciences, and a set of free electives, culminating in two comprehensive exams, before continuing into negotiation, international financial management, social responsibility and sustainability, the law and economics of the European Union, a second project-work module, and an elective in economy and society. The final semester is built around thesis writing and a substantial internship.

Across the program's later semesters, students choose electives from a wide menu spanning business law, such as international business law, EU law, labour law, or business and human rights; the social sciences, such as sociology, cultural anthropology, or political science; economy and society, such as contemporary philosophy or business ethics; and informatics, such as advanced Excel, business analysis, or data analysis with Python.

Throughout the program, students build a multicultural approach and continuously develop their analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong emphasis placed on business communication, argumentation, and negotiation, alongside a solid grounding in business law and a broader social-scientific perspective. Theoretical learning is applied through business simulations and case studies drawn from multinational corporations, alongside an extended project-work process addressing real problems in finance and accounting under experienced supervision.

Graduates become experts in economics and financial planning, managing financial projects and supporting financial decision-making within companies. Typical roles include chartered accountant, chartered management accountant, external auditor, forensic accountant, stockbroker, and financial analyst.
Applicants must hold a secondary or high school diploma, or equivalent, that provides direct access to higher education. Note that GCSE, IGCSE, O-level, GCE AS, or BTEC exams alone are not sufficient; applicants need at least two GCE A-level exams or an equivalent qualification, such as a GED score of 175 or above. Provisional or predicted results are accepted temporarily, but final results must be confirmed before enrollment.

English proficiency at B2 level or higher must be demonstrated through an IELTS score of at least 6.0 overall, a TOEFL iBT score of at least 80, a TOEFL PBT score of at least 500, a TOEFL CBT score of at least 173, or a Cambridge FCE score of at least 170; a Duolingo score of at least 110, a TOEIC Listening and Reading score of at least 785, a TOEIC Speaking and Listening score of at least 310, or an Euroexam Online score of at least 75% overall are also accepted, though less preferred. Applicants are exempt if English is their native language, if they completed at least two years of secondary education taught in English, or if they have completed at least 60 university credits of coursework taught in English.

Applicants must submit a certified transcript and translation of their final two years of secondary school, their secondary school certificate or diploma (with a certified English translation, or proof of its expected issue date if not yet available), a CV, a motivation letter of 1,000 to 1,500 characters, two signed recommendation letters or references, which are highly recommended, and a valid passport copy.
