Language Options Slovenian & English (master's)
eVŠ Opens March 17
Visa Required Non-EU: Yes

Slovenia uses the eVŠ (Electronic Higher Education) central application system for all public universities. The portal is available in English and guides you through the selection and submission process. Most English-taught programs are at master's level.

Step-by-Step Application Process

Browse programs on eVŠ or university websites

Visit evs.ess.gov.si to search available programs. Alternatively, browse the University of Ljubljana (uni-lj.si/en) or University of Maribor (um.si/en) directly for English-taught programs at master's level.

Register and submit application on eVŠ

Create an account on the eVŠ portal from March 17. Select your program(s) — you can apply to multiple programs in one session. Upload your documents and submit before August 28 (first round).

Apply in April–May for popular programs — places fill before the August deadline.

Upload required documents

Upload: diploma and transcripts (with official Slovenian or English translations), proof of English language skills, passport, motivation letter, and CV.

Document legalization

Foreign documents must be legalized (Apostille for Hague countries; full legalization for others) and officially translated. Translations must be done by a court-certified translator in Slovenia or your home country.

Receive admission decision

Universities review applications and notify applicants by late August or September. Decisions are issued through the eVŠ portal and by email.

Apply for a Slovenian student residence permit (non-EU)

Apply for a Temporary Residence Permit for Educational Purposes at the Slovenian embassy in your home country or at the local Administrative Unit (Upravna Enota) after arriving. Required: acceptance letter, proof of funds (€500/month), accommodation, and health insurance.

Enroll and register your address

Complete enrollment at the faculty office. Register your address at the local Administrative Unit within 3 days of arrival.
