Econometrics programs are among the most mathematically selective in economics, and your application needs to demonstrate genuine quantitative ability. A strong undergraduate record in mathematics, statistics, and economics (with quantitative methods coursework) is the baseline expectation. Familiarity with at least one statistical computing environment (R, Stata, or Python) is expected. If you are targeting research or academic careers, letters of recommendation from economics professors who can speak to your research potential matter considerably.
