How to apply for undergraduate studies in Spain if you are not an EU student

If you are not an EU student or you have not passed your upper secondary school studies in the European Union, and you are going to start higher education studies for the first time (i.e., you are not a transfer student from another higher education institution), you will have to follow the steps as explained below:

01You need to receive a recognition (homologación in Spanish) of your upper secondary school (high school) studies. This recognition certifies your school studies are equivalent to those in Spain in order for you to be able to access higher education studies at a Spanish university or college.

03The last step of the process is to pre-register at the university or college of your choice. Please, note that, although some institutions may have three intakes per year, the main application period ends by July of each year. Most of the study places are taken by applicants at the July intake. Therefore, we recommend you apply for studies in Spain in the July intake to ensure you are granted a study place at the course or study program of your choice.
