Over the past months, we have received many questions regarding tuition fee-free studies for non-EU students in Europe. Higher education institutions in Europe are known world-wide by their outstanding balance of high-quality study programs and tuition fees schemes.
While you may consider tuition fees are an obstacle for you to access a certain course or study program, sometimes the benefits of a course are worth the fee you have to pay. Therefore, I believe you should also consider other aspects of the course when deciding what to study in Europe, such as:
- Think of the career opportunities after you finish your studies. If you would like to continue studying, you may consider a more theoretical program. However, if you are willing to jump into the labor market right away, you may rather prefer a program that offers a more practical approach.
- The language of instruction. In Europe, you can study in English and in many other languages like Spanish, French, German or Italian. Why not improving your foreign language skills while earning your degree? Studying in a different language might be hard, but the result is so rewarding.
- Will you have access to study counselling services? Sometimes you may need the help of an expert to better cope with adversity at school and find the appropriate career path that best fits your personal expectations and academic profile.
- Are you offered activities to get socially integrated at your university or college? Some institutions prepare induction days to help new students become familiar with the life in the campus.
- Studying in another country represents a great opportunity to get to know a different society and culture. Enrich your student life with a course that offers external activities to learn more about the country’s history and culture.
- Is there any kind of financial support? Some institutions have agreements with banks, organizations or companies to facilitate student access to bank loans, paid work and reduced costs while studying. One of the benefits most students in Europe enjoy is the student card that universities or colleges provide them with. With the student card, you can visit Europe’s amazing museums at a much lower price, have cheaper telephone bills or even travel at a much more convenient price all over Europe!
- And last, but not least, are you happy with what you are studying? Passing exams and writing assignments requires a hard work. If you don’t feel good with what you are doing, you will become frustrated and will not be enjoying your student life. After all, we always remember our time as students as the best moment of our lives.
